Battery Cell Modelling Engineer 

Duration: 6-Month Contract (Remote Work Available)

We are seeking a highly motivated Battery Cell Modelling Engineer to contribute to cutting-edge projects in collaboration with industry leaders and research partners. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely, providing you with flexibility and the chance to make a significant impact in the aerospace sector.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Technology Roadmap Contribution: Collaborate with industry and research partners to shape our modelling technology roadmap.
2. Battery Cell Performance Modelling: Develop and enhance models for battery cell performance and degradation under diverse load conditions and flight profiles, utilizing equivalent circuit models and physics-based models.
3. Model Simplification: Translate high-fidelity cell models into simplified, computationally efficient engineering models.
4. Electrothermal Simulations: Conduct electrothermal simulations of cells to support the development of aircraft battery systems, define operational boundaries, and assist in cell screening and selection activities.
5. Algorithm Development: Create and improve algorithms and tools for cell model parameter inference and optimization based on test results and field data analysis.
6. Data Integration: Coordinate cross-functional data integration efforts to support the development of battery digital twins.
7. Collaboration with Testing Engineers: Work closely with test engineers to define, refine, and analyze cell tests for performance validation and model calibration.
8. Process Development: Develop methods, tools, and processes to streamline modelling activities.
9. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with fellow cell engineers and engineers in other functions.
10. Ad-Hoc Projects: Contribute to various projects related to our company's aerospace initiatives.

Qualifications:
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Control Engineering, Physics, Electrochemistry, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in Li-ion cell modelling.
- Familiarity with model-based development best practices and industry standards.
- Proficiency in cell performance indicators, modelling, and state estimation techniques.
- Strong background in designing cell testing procedures and interpreting their results.
- At least 2 years of hands-on software development experience in Python, including third-party data science libraries such as pandas and PySpark.
- Experience with Matlab/Simulink.
- Familiarity with advanced measurement methods like impedance spectroscopy is a plus.
- Knowledge of materials and cell design is a plus.
- Target-oriented and driven work style with analytical problem-solving skills.
- Proactive and ownership-driven, capable of leading key efforts to completion.
- Comfortable navigating complex situations with many unknowns, with a talent for creating clarity.
- Fluent English language skills are essential; fluency in German or any other language is a beneficial asset.
