Senior Platform Engineer

Location: Bristol (3 days a week on-site)
Salary: £75,000-£90,000 DOE

You will be among the first in the platforms team which is responsible for creating intelligent, resilient, and secure solutions across cloud (AWS, Azure) and mobile (AOSP ROM) platforms. This role involves working on critical, high-impact projects and provides an opportunity to shape the future of the client's platforms and products. 
 
This company prides itself on a strong culture and high-performing teams, therefore you will be based on-site 3 days a week from their state-of-the-art office space. 

Please note that for this position, you will need to be eligible for SC clearance. 
 
Required Skills and Experience:
- Substantial experience in designing and developing complex distributed systems and have played a role as a key contributor to large-scale projects.
- Skilled in building solutions in private, hybrid, and public cloud environments (AWS/Azure)
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform
- Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Solid understanding of programming languages such Python, Go, etc
- Proven track record in service delivery and implementation 
- A solid foundation in cybersecurity and information security practices
- Been included in evaluations and decision-making processes for software and infrastructure, ensuring optimal technical solutions for your organisation
- Successfully contributed to engineering roadmaps that align with business goals and product strategies
- Experience in regulated sectors delivering complex networked systems, such as defence, national security, telecommunications, financial services, or automotive industries.

Key Responsibilities:
- Help shape the system architectures and set the standard for engineering best practices within the Platforms team.
- Play a key role in defining and driving strategic roadmap for the Platforms team, ensuring the company achieves their goals with innovation.
- Actively participate in building scalable, distributed systems and solve challenges across all layers of our tech stack, from infrastructure to applications.
- Ensure designs meet privacy, security, compliance, availability, performance, and resilience standards across all services and infrastructure.
- Represent the team in high-level engineering decisions, ensuring projects align with the organisation's objectives.
- Partner with customer-facing teams to deliver exceptional product and service experiences.
- Keep up with industry developments, especially in cloud and edge technologies, to ensure solutions are innovative.
- Mentor and support team members, helping them grow professionally and advance in their careers.
