Project Engineer 

Location: Bristol/Yeovil 
Contract rate: Up to £35-£49 an hour (Inside IR35) 
Job type: Contract - 6 months initially 

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Project Engineer to join our dynamic team, reporting to the Project Engineering Manager. This role will play a crucial part in supporting the Vertical Lift (VL) Chief Engineer in delivering the programme objectives for the Vertical Lift (VL) initiative. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating, managing, and reporting on assigned engineering activities to ensure their successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate engineering teams across multiple skill areas, including internal, external, and customer resources.
- Develop and maintain Supplier Statements of Work (SSOWs) to meet evolving programme needs.
- Champion systems engineering best practices, ensuring quality and traceability of requirements and compliance verification strategies.
- Work closely with programme leadership to obtain necessary approvals to maintain business continuity related to VL contracted services.
- Oversee project proposal activities, ensuring engineering leadership is informed about proposal milestones and objectives.
- Identify and report on key metrics to programme leadership to provide visibility on functional performance.
- Monitor and assess project performance against baseline plans, identifying efficiencies, productivity gains, and lessons learned.
- Plan, identify, and coordinate necessary resources to support programme needs through functional resource management and status reviews.
- Manage changes in requirements by assessing impacts and negotiating modifications to deliverables, resources, costs, and schedules.
- Provide technical coordination for project deliverables' development and execution.
- Tailor and apply engineering initiatives, best practices, and quality processes.
- Contribute to Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Manage risks, issues, and opportunities.

Preferred Skills and Experience
- Degree-level (or equivalent) qualification in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field, with experience in requirements management for systems and/or services.
- Proven experience in Project Planning and Management.
- Strong knowledge of Systems Engineering (SE) principles, excellent IT skills, and outstanding customer-facing skills.
